We’re looking for authors or aspiring authors alike – no need to have published, or even written, a book before now!

All entrants are required to compile a basic manuscript proposal.

What’s a manuscript proposal?

It’s a brief overview of your book or book idea. This means you don’t need to have a completed book or manuscript ready for submission, just a clear idea of what you plan on writing.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

The competition is open to anyone aged 18 or over. You can be a published or unpublished writer.

Competition entries must be accompanied by your full contact details.

The competition is open to South African residents with valid citizenship only.

All entrants’ information will be used only for Texture Publishing’s competition and communication purposes.

You don’t need to have a completed manuscript in order to participate in the competition. You only need to submit your manuscript proposal, as laid out in the competition details.

Your manuscript or manuscript proposal must not have been published or accepted for publication elsewhere.

Maximum word count of final manuscript: 50 000 words

Maximum of 2 entries per person

Submission deadline: 9 April 2021

The winner will be announced on 23 April 2021 live on Radio Helderberg.

No corrections or alterations will be accepted after submission

All work submitted must be the entrant’s own original writing. All work should not have appeared in print or appear on any website (including blogs or any social media/networking sites)

We don’t accept any manuscripts that are: Literature and Poetry, Romance or Erotica, Spiritual or Religious views, or Political views.

Manuscripts will only be accepted in English and/or Afrikaans. We cannot commit to publishing any of the other South African languages yet as we do not have the expertise in these languages to ensure correctness, consistency or completeness. We will be publishing in the other nine official languages in the near future.

All entries should be submitted as a document in Microsoft Word (.doc, .docx) in a traditional font such as Times New Roman, Calibri or Cambria, and double spaced. No identity should be included on the text in order to judge fairly. We will assign each entry a unique identifier.

Entries will be judged anonymously according to Texture Publishing’s internal publishing criteria and solely according to Texture Publishing’s discretion.

All Texture Publishing's competition judgments and decisions are final, and no correspondence and or negotiation will be entered into in this regard

No cash alternative is available to the prize.

We reserve the right to cancel any competition without notice at any time.

By entering into a competition it is deemed that you have read and understood these rules and thereby consent to all terms and conditions communicated by Texture Publishing.
